Due to space constraints in existing substations, port shore power (AMP) systems often require the use of containerized shore power (AMP) substations. Containerized shore power (AMP) substations offer flexible spatial layout and ease of use.

System Core Components and Technical Requirements

  1. 1.Shore-side Power Plant Equipment: High-voltage switchgear: Introducing medium- and high-voltage power from the port power grid; frequency converters and transformers; power quality management devices; intelligent control system: Based on the ABB Ability™ platform, enabling remote monitoring, automated process control, safety interlocking, electricity metering, and data analysis.
  1. 2.Ship-to-Shore Connection System: Cable Management System: Addressing the high hull height of container ships, providing rigid or flexible boom systems, enabling precise and efficient connection of high-capacity high-voltage cables to the ship's receiving interface. High automation reduces the risks and time required for manual operations.
  1. 3.Connector (MVS - Mobile Vacuum Switchgear): Utilizing dry-break and vacuum arc-extinguishing technology, the connector ensures rapid and absolutely safe connection and disconnection operations, eliminating the risk of electric arc.
  2. 4.On-board System: On-board receiving equipment includes the ship's side junction box, circuit breakers, and protection devices.
  3. 5.Synchronous parallel control system (the core of the system).
  4. 6.Integrated Power Management System (PMS).

Special Design for Container Ships:

  1. 1.High-capacity power supply: During container ship operations in port, the electrical load is exceptionally high (reaching several megawatts to tens of megawatts) due to reefer power-on and quay crane loading and unloading operations.
  2. 2.Handling sudden load fluctuations: The load fluctuates drastically when quay cranes lift or lower containers.
  3. 3.High-efficiency operation: The automated and mechanized connection system minimizes the "connection" operation time, aligning with the efficient turnover rhythm of container ports.
  4. 4. Retrofit Solution: Provide mature onboard system retrofit solutions for existing container ships, including space optimization design, system integration and commissioning services.
